As winner of the 2022 Alsop Entrepreneurship Award, Marieke is launching her concept of an e-commerce marketplace for Pan-African music as Publishing Team Lead of the Àkójọpọ̀ Music Foundation

Marieke is a founding board member of the Canadian queer and drag opera company Opéra Queens

Marieke is planning an eco-arts tour and documentary project across Africa,  documenting African music communities and indigenous foodways in different countries while spurring an intercultural dialogue around indigenous cultural reclamation and decolonization. This project will also help communities to build skills and empowerment around activism, nonprofit management and arts administration.

Earth Shattering is collaborative performance project that explores the intersections of race, gender and climate justice. Featuring new commissions by queer and female African composers, this project will uplift underrepresented voices in classical music and climate justice discourse. ​

Blessed Be Our Martyrs is a collaborative recital project featuring Pan-African art songs that explore themes of nature and climate justice. Featuring world premieres by Ongama Mhlonto, Lusibalwethu Sesanti, Marieke de Koker and an improvised song cycle based on poetry by Valentine Kizito, the recital was performed in New York City in November 2023.

In 2020 Marieke organized an African Christmas fundraising concert to help raise funds for South African opera singers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown

In 2019 Marieke directed a production of Der Schauspieldirektor with a bilingual German and Spanish libretto, premiered at DePaul University
