Like a spider losing its legs one by one
She crawls through life
She was so busy running towards her dreams
That she never noticed how life passed her by
Never heard the eagle calls beckoning her
All the precious moments she rushed past
The people she left behind
She was so busy trying to build something
Achieve something
A seemingly endless and unreachable dream
Stubborn and fierce she ran
Wearing her pain as a proud emblem
Of sacrifice and martyrdom
Until she grew so used to the pain
That she barely noticed her legs slipping away
Or her face aging under the sun
She ran and ran and ran
Towards beauty
Away from the ugliness of the world
But never knew where she was going
In all her searches for joy
She didn’t know what joy was
And found herself running in circles
Spinning a web
A cage
Of silken tears.
All she ever wanted was a home
Alone she built herself a most elaborate tomb
