The Silent Scream

Writer's picture: Marieke de KokerMarieke de Koker

Before you hear a sound

All that there is

Is the quivering

Almost imperceptible

A shiver from the surface skin of the earth

To the deep and frozen core

She shakes

As her elephant skin is pierced with drills

In her majesty

She swats away the mighty man

As if he is no more than a housefly

Do not wake the sleeping rage

Do not dare

For no platinum or gold

Can repair our kingdoms

When she unleashes the silent scream
